This prize winning oil painting was described by judge as an "emotional response, thick application of paint creates an almost abstract, moody image."
My family has a boat, and coal barges can be seen at all hours powering up and down river on the Monongahela near where we dock at McKee's Point in McKeesport, PA. This barge was docked near a loading area. The sun hitting the coal brought a warm, pink glow to the pyramid shapes as they sat in the barges waiting for transport.
